Rebuilding

Working on myself feels like rebuilding,
Rebuilding my home from the ground up.
I was rotting from the inside out,
Until I was bulldozed into pieces, scattered across the ground.
I started with the foundation,
Layer by layer, grounding myself in something solid.
Pillars and walls just to hold me steady,
Enough to believe I could start over.
I placed a door in the frame,
To shut out those who needed to leave,
And welcome only what would help me grow.
I put up windows letting the sun in,
Illuminating every dark corner within.
Outside, I planted flower pots,
Bringing in bursts of color,
A reflection of the vibrancy I'm reclaiming.
Now, I'm choosing colors to paint my walls,
Thrilled by the endless shades of possibility,
Each hue a piece of who I'm becoming.
I'm working on the vents,
Ensuring the air flows freely,
So my house,
Can finally feel like home again.
